Who are the EAYO Lions?
A challenge was issued to the 4KS Taylor board last year, by the board's chairman. The challenge was to find a measurable way to track the success rate for 4KS Taylor involvement in the community. One of the suggestions was to create youth groups to be inclusive in our decision making process of selecting youth enrichment activities. This was the first step of creating the EAYO.
“If we are to create youth groups, let us make them the best youth groups ever created! Our goal should be that each member upon graduation possesses the proper tools needed to be successful at University/College. Let us not talk the talk, but walk the walk!”
Kenneth Taylor - CEO and Board Chairman
Youth Division - As the youth divisions were created, we selected to serve two areas and one being Eastern Arkansas. The Eastern Arkansas division will be made up of youth that will help improve the community. Projects for 2012 includes: community service activities, green projects, agricultural awareness projects, Back to School – School Supply drive, keep the park clean project, and senior sunray project. As well as helping the community, the youth will be exposed to AAU basketball, team work, responsibilities, knowledge through doing, business, University/College, and mentorship. EAYO manager and Board Director of youth programs, Ryan Hemphill is creating a team of local volunteers to assist with the leadership of each age group. The age groups, at this time, are limited due to the programs youth. The board elected to start off with two small groups of ten, with an objective of adding additional groups in every year. The first two groups are under thirteen boys (U13B) and under fifteen boys (U15B). These two groups will consist of youth from all over Eastern Arkansas. The home location for meetings is Forrest City, Arkansas and the location is TBA. All youth are welcome to apply, honor students, single parent house hold students, at risk students, and athletic students. Our vision is as hole we all will be honor students and strive for excellence on the basketball court, in school, at home, at church and in the community.
